Walter Reed Army Medical Center
- Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) is the only DoD facility for advanced subspecialty training in gynecologic oncology in the military. Army and Navy personnel who are subspecialty trained in Gynecologic Oncology jointly staff this service. This world-class service has 30 years experience in specialty training in the treatment of gynecologic malignancies. The Division of Gynecologic Oncology at WRAMC is a founding member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), the premier multi-institutional cooperative cancer treatment group dedicated to the study and treatment of gynecologic malignancies sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. The Gynecologic Oncology Division also has a memorandum of understanding with the National Cancer Institute that allows for the gynecologic surgical treatment of non-DOD health care beneficiaries participating on NCI-sponsored protocols. From this research group affiliation, they are able to offer our patients over 80 clinical and basic science related research protocols. The research and clinical activities for the Division of Gynecologic Oncology are being consolidated in the Gynecologic Disease Center at WRAMC, the renovation of which is expected to be completed in September 2005.
